Valentine's Day 2011

The week before Valentine's Day my sister was doing a bunch of fun things for her family for Valentine's week so I stole a few ideas from her.
First we did a "Heart Attack" for Kennadee Russell and I put some things we love about her on hearts and stuck them on her door and in her room. She loved it!

Since Kennadee is in Kindergarten now she got to make a box to take to school for her Valentine's party. She had fun putting stickers on it and coloring it.
 Proud of her work!
I got to go help in Kennadee's class for her party. She ate way too much sugar and wasn't feeling very well.

Once it was time to pass out Valentine's she was super excited.

R2-D2 Cake

It has become a tradition that I make the cake for my sister's kids' 8th Birthday parties. I did it for Sam and Patience and this year was no different. Gabe turned eight the other day and is having a Star Wars Birthday Party today so I decided to make him an R2-D2 cake. Thanks to Aubria we were able to pull it off!! I seriously couldn't have done it without her!! I forgot to take a picture after I put the final bit of rolled up fondant around the bottom so it doesn't look as finished in the pics but you get the gist! Happy Birthday Gabe!!

Snow Day!!

As you know it is very rare for it to snow in this area of Texas. Last year we got a slight dusting and they closed schools. This week we have had frigid (for Texas) 20 degree temps so we were thrilled to find out that it was going to snow last night so Kennadee could have the day off of school and Russ and I could have the day off work (I am a school crossing guard if you didn't know that). I awoke to a phone call at 5 a.m. telling us that we didn't have school!! Hooray!! Of course I couldn't go to sleep after that so I patiently waited for them to wake up. When Kennadee got up I heard her jump out of her bed and come running down. "Mom did you see that is SNOWED???" She was so excited and was talking a million miles a minute about how cool it was and how she hoped it would have been more snow but she was still happy about it. You would have thought it was Christmas morning all over again. She asked if we could go play in it so we bundled up and went out. We tried to make a snowman but it's really powdery so it wouldn't hold. We wrote her name in the snow and then she played around scraping off the cars and stuff. And then we came in and had some yummy Hot Chocolate. It was really fun!! Here are some pics.
