Nauvoo Trip Part V: Quorum of the Seventy Building

The quorum of the seventy building was used for quorum meetings and also for training the missionaries before they left on their missions. They had some old artifacts that they had found when renovating the properties they even found some curled up glass from the windows of the original Nauvoo Temple from when it was burned down. They had books of names of the original quorum and I found the name of my Great Great Great Great Grandfather Thomas Woolsey. It was so neat to see that. I even called my Mom to verify that it was the right person.
Kennadee had fun playing at the pulpit she even had us sing a song with her. It was so cute!

Nauvoo Trip Part IV: Red Brick Store

Here are pictures of Joseph Smith's Red Brick Store. This is where the first Relief Society was organized.

Nauvoo Trip Part III: Visitor's Center and Graveyard

We went to the LDS visitor's Center the next day and they gave us a map of Nauvoo and a schedule of events. There was so much to do and not enough time so we chose a few things we wanted to do and did them. We started out by looking around at the visitor's center and then we went over to the graveyard to look at Joseph, Hyrum, and Emma Smiths' Graves. It was really neat. Also while at the Visitor's Center we watched a movie about the 6 years the pioneers were in Nauvoo and also a movie about Joseph Smith.

Nauvoo Trip Part I: Nauvoo Temple

We decided to go to Nauvoo on our way to our Michigan trip this summer and we are so glad we did. It was such an amazing trip! There is so much to see and you can feel the spirit so strongly there.
The first day we arrived it was in the evening and close to closing time. We went to the first Visitor's Center we came to and went inside. We looked around for a little bit and realized that we were in the RLDS Visitor Center. They didn't allow us to take pictures inside but we were able to look at some things that had belonged to Joseph Smith and his family. It was closing time so we had to make it quick and then we headed into town for dinner. While we were in town we came across the Nauvoo Temple. It was so beautiful!! I took lots of pictures. We ate dinner walked around the town and headed back to the hotel for bed. Here are the pictures:
